Elephant & Bamboo was founded by a Mother and Daughter duo, who both have a passion for creating beautiful interior atmosphere. With one being raised in Africa and the other in the UK, our inspiration derives from a cultural blend. Our products are mainly inspired by a combination of natural sources from the African culture and the modern contemporary style.
We have always had a love for candles. However, after realising that most of the candles we were using were not as environmentally friendly as we thought they were, we started looking into making home fragrances that were eco-friendly and sustainable without losing the fresh and sophisticated scents we enjoyed from candles.
Why elephant and bamboo?
Elephants are known as the gentle giants that show great care towards their heard, symbolizing responsibility, determination and loyalty; these are the core values of our brand. Elephants also represent Africa, which is the land of our ancestors. We are, therefore, very proud to relate our brand and products to our roots.
Bamboo is a symbol of harmony and balance. Bamboos are used as housewarming gifts, as a symbol of good health. This links back to us using natural products to bring good health into your homes.
Our brand stands for making eco-friendly, natural products which will fit in lovely with all your home decor.
Our Candles are made from 100% Soy & Coconut wax blend mixed with natural Fragrance oils derived from raw material. The ingredients used for all are products are Eco-Friendly. All our products are handmade. Therefore, some may have minor imperfections. However, these do not affect the quality or performance of the products.
We take pride in providing top-quality products and customer service to our customers. If you have any problems or truly feel that the product does not live up to your expectations, let us know and we will make it right.
How does a reed diffuser work?
The diffuser liquid is made up of aromatic fragrances derived from raw materials. When the reeds are placed into the liquid, the oil is drawn up through microscopic channels which run along the entire length of the reed. The scent is then naturally dispersed into the atmosphere through evaporation. It will take between 24-36 hours for complete scent diffusion to occur, depending on the size of the room.
How often should I turn the reeds?
You can revitalise the fragrance release of your diffuser by inverting the reeds. This can be done every 2 weeks to ensure the delivery of fragrance remains.
How long will my diffuser last?
On average a reed diffuser should last 8 – 12 weeks but this will depend on many factors including the fragrance, type & number of reeds used, position of the diffuser in the home and seasonal temperature variations. You will find that diffusion slows down in cooler environments and increases with ambient temperatures in summer. It can also vary in each room depending on air circulation. If you find your diffuser is diffusing too quickly, simply reduce the number of reeds in the vessel.
Diffuser Care
1. Do not light the reeds & keep away from open flames. Reed diffusers are highly flammable.
2. Do not ingest.
3. Diffuser liquid may damage polished surfaces. Make sure you wipe any residual oil from the bottom of the bottle before placing on a protected, level surface.
4. Keep away from children and pets.
5. Diffuser liquid may cause an allergic skin reaction. In the event of skin or eye contact, rinse thoroughly with water. If skin irritation occurs seek medical advice/attention.
6. Please avoid release into the environment. Some diffuser oils may be harmful to aquatic life with long lasting effects, so always dispose of contents to an approved disposal site in accordance with local regulations.
7. Always read individual diffuser warning labels carefully prior to use.
Before You Burn
Remove all the packaging before lighting your candle. Place your candle on a level, well protected, heat resistant and dry surface, away from any children or pets. Trim the wicks to 6mm in length before lighting to reduce black carbon residue (soot).
Initial Burn
Soy and coconut wax has a memory. To ensure that your candle does not tunnel, make sure to burn it for 4 hours for the first time. Make sure to allow a wax pool to form all the way to the edge of the vessel.
Safety Tips
Keep away from flammable items.
- Keep away from children and pets.
- Never leave your burning candle unattended.
- Never move a burning candle. Ensure candle is extinguished, wax is solid and vessel is cold before handling.
- Do not use lid to extinguish candle.
- Discard when there is 10mm of wax left in the vessel.
- Always trim the wick to 6mm before each burn.
Extinguishing the flame
Use a wick dipper to extinguish the flame for Eco Cotton Wicks. When using a wick dipper, no residual smoke is produced. Gently push the lit wick into the melted wax and pull it back out again. For Wooden Wicks, use a snuffer to extinguish the flame.
Why is my Candle turning yellow?
We do not add unnecessary chemicals in our candles. As such, if they are exposed to direct or indirect light, your candle may darken. If your candle does darken, don't be alarmed - it does not affect the burn or quality at all.
